The COO shall have the primary responsibility of leading the operations of the and its subsidiaries in accordance with the strategic plan, operating and capital budgets. The position will report to Chief Executive Officer the primary responsibilities of the COO are to:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the business.
- Develop an annual operating plan that supports the Corporation’s long-term operations strategy.
- Assist the CEO in developing and overseeing the long-term business strategies of the Corporation.
- Assist the CEO in overseeing the Corporation’s achievement and maintenance of a satisfactory competitive position within its industry.
- Keep the CEO fully informed in a timely and candid manner of the conduct of the day-to-to-today operations of the Corporation towards the achievement of its established goals and of all material deviations from the goals or objectives and policies established by the Board.
- With respect to operational matters, ensuring communication, resolution of issues and project development.
- Ensure the development of health and safety practices for the Corporation and oversee compliance with those practices.
- As requested by the Board, attend meetings of the Board and its Committees and present the information necessary or relevant to the Board or such Committee for discharging its duties.
- Foster a corporate culture that promotes ethical practices, customer focus and service and encourages individual integrity.
- Maintain a positive and ethical work climate that is conducive to attracting, retaining and motivating a diverse group of top-quality employees at all levels. Money does not make all!
- Coordinate the sustainability strategies of the Corporation.
- Assess and manage the principal risks of the Corporation’s business within operations (proposals, projects and staffing);
- Ensure that there is an effective succession plan in place for the COO position and other key executives of the Corporation reporting to the COO.
- Evaluate the performance of senior executives of the Corporation reporting to the COO; and
- Perform other functions related to the office of the COO or as may be requested by the CEO or the Board.

- Ensure that the Company is recognized as a leading company in terms of CSR and maintain the appropriate “Social License to Operate” by:
o Optimizing the social impact of our activities
o Undertaking proactive and transparent engagement with our communities, NGOs and government. - By the end of the Strategic Plan, duly report to our Stakeholders our CSR Performance and distribute audited CSR reports to our shareholders and stakeholders.
Technical:
- Improve various operational/technical metrics (mining cost, maintenance cost, throughput, recovery etc.) by gathering the right key transverse expertise around you and by implementing and monitoring constant best practices in mining, processing, maintenance, etc.
- The company needs to be at the forefront of innovation in the gold industry, starting with digitalization and being alert on innovative technical/ technological solutions
- Formalize/ standardize processes across all our operations, acting as one company whatever site we go to.
- Act as an entrepreneur and innovator within the strategic goals of the Corporation.
People:

Profile
Qualification and experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in leading mid to large, matrix operations in mining companies
- Demonstrated experience in leading positive changes and negotiations with key stakeholders.
- Proven track record of delivery targets.
- Ideally fluent both in French and English
- Good knowledge of west African culture
