They ensure that all electrical installations, commissioning, and maintenance activities are executed in compliance with safety standards, technical specifications, environmental regulations, schedule, and budget.
The Electrical Project Engineer acts as a key interface between design teams, equipment suppliers, contractors, and operations to guarantee performance, reliability, and compliance of all electrical installations.
Main Responsibilities
Technical Supervision
- Review and validate electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical documentation (HV, LV, control, and instrumentation).
- Ensure compliance with international electrical standards and local mining and environmental regulations.
- Enforce electrical safety procedures, including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and isolation processes on site.
Project Planning and Control
- Contribute to project planning, resource allocation, and preparation of electrical and instrumentation schedules.
- Participate in budget preparation and cost tracking, identifying variances and implementing corrective measures.
- Provide regular progress updates and technical reports to the Project Manager.
Stakeholder and Contractor Coordination
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and suppliers of electrical materials and systems.
- Verify the quality, compliance, and performance of delivered equipment (transformers, switchboards, motors, cables, VFDs, etc.).
- Participate in multidisciplinary coordination meetings (mechanical, civil, instrumentation).
Construction and Site Activities
- Supervise the installation of electrical systems, including cabling, switchgear, grounding, energization, and commissioning.
- Identify and resolve technical issues encountered on site.
