Under the supervision of the Environmental and Social Governance Manager, the Doctor must set up a functional system for the effective management of workers’ health through the provision of appropriate care and ensure compliance with the regulations in force in the Republic of Guinea as well as the company’ s health policies
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Implement an effective company clinic management system to meet the needs of operations
- Ensure the medical-surgical care of the company’ s workers and their subcontractors on site
- Supervise clinic staff
- Recognize, analyze and respond promptly to any emergency situation such as severe trauma, medical evacuations
- Ensure the organization of pre-employment and annual medical examinations of employees in collaboration with the National Occupational Health Service and the Human Resources Department
- Organize and monitor evacuations in Conakry and internationally;
- Ensure coordination between the different services and reference structures in the event of a medical evacuation;
- Implement and operationalize a clinic operating plan to meet the needs of the company’s operations
- Ensure the medical follow-up of workers referred off-site
- Produce weekly and monthly statistics required by the Environmental and Social Governance Department
- Organize awareness campaigns on hygiene, malaria and scourges such as AIDS and STIs
- Monitor national epidemics and implement preventive measures
- Carry out periodic inventories of medicines, medical-surgical equipment and consumables of the Medical Centr
- Advise on prophylactic measures to local communities living around the company’s mine
- To provide assistance to community health projects and social support for the populations affected by the project; Communities
- Ensure that medical surveillance (pre-employment and annual medical examination, vaccination program) is carried out according to the highest standards;
- Develop, implement and evaluate practice protocols in collaboration with Medical Centre staff, facilitating the transition of evidence-based practices
- Foster the development of a culture of patient safety and quality improvement
- Oversee the peer review function of medical staff to provide ongoing assessments of professional practice and targeted assessment of professional practice
- Integrate, monitor, and evaluate quality improvement, disease management, and utilization review activities and develop standards to improve quality outcomes both clinically and administratively to ensure the highest standards of treatment and patient care
- Provide leadership and vision in the development of clinical guidelines and care pathways
- Participate in the development of clinical information systems and electronic medical records to enable appropriate use of clinical data and physician feedback regarding practice models and performance
- Contribute to the achievement and maintenance of key performance indicators
- Arrange drug tests and confirmatory alcohol tests
- Support Emergency response programmes
- Coordinate the implementation of initiatives to improve the community health of affected communities and populations
- Have proven experience in occupational medicine
- Liaise with staff, including non-medical management staff and health care professionals on a daily basis
- Contribute to the development of effective care pathways in line with current best practices and national guidelines
- Ensure epidemiological monitoring and associated mitigation programs (Covid, Ebola, Cholera, Lassa, etc.)
- Perform weekly, monthly and quarterly reports for the clinic
Profil
Knowledge / Skills
- Have a very good semiology and a good knowledge of Forensic Medicine
- Have hospital management skills
- Extensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety
- Be able to diagnose common diseases in the mining environment
- Ability to provide leadership to workers under his/her responsibility by taking positive actions to create and maintain a safe and healthy workplace, and to protect the environment
- Be dynamic, able to supervise and train
- Knowledge of labour regulations (Labour Code, collective agreement for the mining, quarrying and mining industries and social security code)
- Ability to work long hours, often under pressure

Formation/Education :
- Hold a Doctorate in General Medicine
- Valid certificate of registration issued by the Council of Medical Practitioners and Dentists and proof of continuing professional development
- Be affiliated to the Order of Physicians
- Advanced Cardiac Support/Intervention
- Advanced trauma support
Required Experience:
- At least 10 years of professional experience in a similar position and experience in a mining company in operations is an asset
- Have skills in training and coaching junior doctors and nurses
- Have a proven track record in emergency surgery
- Skills in management and management of medical stock
- Be flexible, open and constructive
Language requirement:
- Practice and handling of the English language is an asset
- French is mandatory, Malinke an asset
