The Mechanical Project Engineer plays a key role in the planning, coordination, and technical execution of mining and industrial projects.
Reporting to the Project Manager, they are responsible for managing all mechanical engineering activities, including equipment installation, infrastructure development, and system commissioning.
Success in this role depends on the ability to ensure technical compliance, safety, quality, schedule adherence, and cost control, while effectively coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to deliver reliable and efficient mechanical installations.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise mechanical works on projects, including installation of heavy equipment, pipelines, conveyors, metallic structures, and pumping systems.
  • Review and validate mechanical designs, drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with engineering teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and consultants to ensure technical and operational alignment.
  • Supervise construction, assembly, and commissioning of mechanical systems on site.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to design, installation, and maintenance.
  • Contribute to resource planning, budgeting, and financial tracking of the mechanical scope.
  • Assess project risks and support the implementation of mitigation strategies.
  • Verify the quality and conformity of delivered equipment and services.
  • Prepare progress reports, technical notes, and project documentation for management.
  • Promote a strong safety culture and continuous improvement mindset across all project activities.

Profil

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electromechanical, or Mining Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical, mining, or industrial project engineering.
  • Proficiency in MS Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or equivalent engineering software.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, heavy equipment assembly, and industrial maintenance.
  • Proven skills in budget management, scheduling, technical analysis, and reporting.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams.
  • Fluent in French and professional proficiency in English.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Safety or industrial first aid certification (preferred).
