Description du poste
Under the supervision of the Mine Manager, the Mine Engineering Superintendent is responsible for planning and managing the Mine Engineering services. They ensure the optimization of gold mining operations by overseeing mine planning, topography, hydrology, dewatering and geotechnical engineering. Their role is to ensure the efficiency of mining operations while ensuring compliance with environmental and safety standards.
Leadership and Management
- Provide strong leadership by rigorously applying health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Supervise and supervise the technical services teams: geology, mine planning, geotechnical, and topography.
- Manage the mining engineering services budget and track contract and purchasing expenses.
- Develop and implement technical strategies to achieve short, medium, and long-term production objectives.
- Ensure smooth communication with other departments (mining operations, metallurgy, maintenance, environment).
- Train and develop the skills of technical teams.
- Manage and monitor the department’s budget.
Mine Planning and Engineering
- Lead LOM, forecasting and production of physicals.
- Pilot alternative optimization of the mining reserves.
- Lead mine design and surface drainage.
- Develop weekly, monthly, and annual mining plans.
- Ensure safe and sound mining engineering designs for extraction, stockpiling and waste dumps which is align with environmental best practices.
- Ensure the integration of best practices in drilling and blasting.
- Ensure that geological models and operating costs are considered in production plans.
- Implement and monitor mining resource optimization strategies.
- Develop and use simulation and analysis tools to improve mining efficiency.
- Optimize the monitoring of ore movements and dilution to maximize gold recovery.
Reporting and reconciliation
- Ensure mine-plant reconciliations to compare actual ore grade processed with forecasts.
- Identify variances between forecasts and actual production and propose optimization solutions.
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of daily, weekly, and monthly production reports.
- Cost Management and Reporting
Topography and Mining Surveys
- Ensure proper coordination between the topography, planning, and geology teams.
- Ensure the proper operation and updating of surveying equipment (GPS, drones, total stations).
- Implement procedures to ensure accurate surveys and avoid operational delays.
Geotechnics and water management Mining Infrastructure Management
- Ensure slope stability and compliance with geotechnical recommendations.
- Identify and monitor geotechnical risks related to pit walls.
- Organize regular audits and technical visits with geotechnical experts.
- Design water drainage and ensure appropriate studies conducted to reduce ground water pressure, mine dewatering capacity and avoid siltation at environmental discharge point.
Profil
Knowledge / Skills & Competencies:
- Excellent proficiency in mine modeling and planning software (Surpac, Datamine, MineSight, Whittle, TALPAC, etc..).
- Solid understanding of geological, mining, and metallurgical processes.
- Budget management and reporting skills.
- Good knowledge of environmental and mining regulatory standards.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and crisis management skills.
Training / Education requirements:
- Degree in mining engineering, geology, mineral resources engineering, or equivalent discipline.
Experience required:
- 10 years of experience in mining operations, with a specialization in technical services.
- Proven experience mine engineering team in a gold mine (open pit or underground).
