Description

Reporting to the General Manager, the Director of Operations is responsible for the overall management of the gold mine site’s operations to ensure optimal production, safety, regulatory compliance and operational efficiency.

He manages the teams, coordinates mine planning and ensures the proper execution of production plans in compliance with budgets and environmental standards.

Mission and responsibilities 

  • Supervise and coordinate all operational activities on the mine site (extraction, processing, maintenance).
  • Develop, monitor and adjust short-, medium- and long-term production plans in collaboration with technical teams and management.
  • Manage operational, technical and administrative teams to ensure smooth and efficient operation.
  • To ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards, and regulations in force in the mining sector.
  • Implement and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, safety, and cost.
  • Supervise the maintenance of equipment and infrastructure to ensure their availability.
  • Collaborate with geology, planning, sales, and logistics departments to optimize operations.
  • Manage the budget for operations and ensure cost optimization.

  • Facilitation of HSE meetings and handling of incidents.
  • Management of unforeseen events (breakdowns, logistical delays, strikes).

Profil

 Knowledges and Competencies

  • Extensive technical knowledge of surface mining and ore processing operations and processes
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation
  • Excellent skills in managing multidisciplinary teams.
  • Proficiency in mine planning tools, specialized software (e.g., Surpac, MineSight) and office automation tools (MS Office).
  • Control of the ore processing cycle
  • Contractor and contract management
  • Solid knowledge of industrial safety, HSE and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to analyze technical, financial and operational data for decision-making.
  • Excellent written and oral communication

Training and Education Requirements

  • Engineering degree in mining engineering, geology, metallurgy or equivalent technical field.

Required Experience

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in gold ore development and production (open pit mine and ore processing)
  • Valid driver’s license
