Main Objective of the Position:
Head of Department, responsible for the management of ore stockpiles (ROM), all milling operations, gold ore processing plant, gold casting and tailings management lines. The position reports to the plant manager
Duties and responsibilities
- Maintain the company’s Health & Safety, Environmental and Community standards – while ensuring compliance with all related regulations
- In charge of the entire operation: ore stocks (ROM), the crushing and grinding plant, the CIL gold plant, the gold casting and the management of the tailings pond lines and ensuring the integrity of the tailings pond during its use
- Prepare and monitor operating budgets and forecasts. Work with the project team on the capital investment budget
- Supervise and manage the performance of subordinate and direct teams
- Set goals and objectives, which will be measured by visual dashboards and the deployment of the lean approach. Take action to ensure that the targets are met: HSEC, production and costs
- Ensure that the operation of the ore processing plant’s equipment is free of breakage, abuse and overflow of gold solution
- Promote the cleanliness and management of overflow basins
- Optimize the use of reagents and promote gravimetric recovery of the ore processing plant
- Liaise with mining departments regarding ore types, blending and planning to meet production targets on budget and on schedule
- Work closely with other departments including security
- Promote the development and training of personnel, to ensure the realization of an operational workforce for the operation of the plant and to ensure talent management and a succession plan
- Acting as Plant Manager during his absence
- Perform any other duties as assigned and related as required
Profil
Knowledge / Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with others
- Highly motivated, enthusiastic, self-starter, showing initiative and great energy
- Perfect mastery of the gold processing plant’s processes and tailings management
- Process for automating ore processing plant systems
- Knowledge of financial management and reporting processes
Training/Education:
- University Degree in Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering
- Proficiency with Office tools
- Control of financial processes, budgeting
- Basic training on Lean Manufacturing processes
Requirements
- 10 years of experience as a manager in similar gold processing plants
- Teamwork and human interaction with teams and colleagues
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing
- Basic knowledge of fixed maintenance
- Experience in training and workforce development
- Speaking and Writing in English
- Proficiency in the French language
