The Project Planner, reporting to the Project Manager, supports mining projects from initiation through completion, ensuring efficient planning, scheduling, and resource allocation for safe and successful execution.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules using tools such as Primavera P6 or MS Project, in collaboration with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
- Monitor and track project progress, producing regular performance and progress reports with budget compliance.
- Analyse and forecast project timelines, identifying schedule risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate and optimize resource allocation and project activities across all phases, from scoping studies to execution.
- Ensure compliance with operational, environmental, health, and safety standards throughout project execution.
- Assist project managers in decision-making by providing schedule forecasts and risk analysis.
- Recommend and implement modifications to improve efficiency and ensure achievement of project milestones.
- Maintain and update project documentation, schedules, and reporting systems as required.
- Will also drive the management of change requirement for project implementation and also act as document controller for project management.
- Mentor junior personnel.
Profil
Knowledges/Skills & Competencies :
- Knowledge of critical path method (CPM), earned value management (EVM), and schedule risk analysis. · Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills. · Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. · Ability to work both independently and as part of multi-disciplinary teams, sometimes in remote mining locations. · Desirable PMP or PRINCE2 certification. · Advanced Excel and reporting skills.
Training/Education Requirements :
- Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering, Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a relevant field.
Experience Required :
- 3–5 years of project planning/scheduling experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector, including direct experience with planning tools (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project).
