Job Description

Reporting to the Managing Director, Senior HR Consultant is responsible for ensuring that the site’s Human Resources function operates effectively and efficiently, including training and development, health and safety, and all HR policies, procedures, systems and processes for expatriate and domestic employees.

Operational Human Resources Management:

  • Implement the site’s HR policies and procedures relating to training and development, recruitment and career management, compensation, leave and internal communication… in accordance with company policies
  • Ensure that the day-to-day activities of the department including payroll, performance management, recruitment, employment contract management, etc. are effectively executed
  • Manage all matters relating to industrial relations and employee relations while making monthly and annual reports to the Director General on matters related to labour administration, trade unions and employee relations…
  • Ensure the effective implementation of the company’s HR policies (recruitment, compensation, training and development, leave, internal communications, etc.)
  •  Develop an appropriate labour relations management system and ensure that disputes between employees are dealt with fairly and equitably in accordance with applicable legislation and internal policies and procedures
  • Interact with the Training Officers of the different Departments to develop and supervise all training activities in the company by providing regular reports to the direct supervisor on training and development programs
  • Represent the Management with the staff bodies to inform employees and unions of HR organization projects

Strategic Human Resources Management:

  • Define and manage HR strategies and policies in agreement with the Management
  • Prepare and submit the HR department’s annual budgeting and planning program
  • As directed, collaborate with the Executive Management team by providing regular updates on HR-related issues
  • Monitor the progress of HR projects and programs and control their execution
  • Work in partnership with the General Management to define long-term objectives to ensure efficient and continuous operation of the site.
  • Maintain a good quality of interactions and support actions between HR staff and the organization’s key managers

Staff Development:

  • Manage, guide, coach, assist and support the team
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance to identify areas for improvement and implement training and coaching programs to ensure employees receive sufficient training to perform their duties safely and effectively
  • Promote and develop the skills of subordinates through technology transfer and skills development through training programs
  • Conduct formal career development discussions with employees and identify development opportunities and programs that help define career development opportunities
  • Encourage and facilitate effective communication between all team members and other departments

Security Management:

  • Demonstrate a personal commitment to safety and social and environmental responsibility practices
  • Ensure that each team member is fit for duty
  • Ensure that agreed procedures, safeguards and controls are applied and used
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted safely and in accordance with the Company’s standards and procedures
  • Ensure that risk management plans are followed
  • Maintain statutory and internal reports as required

Profile

  •  Have a good command of national and international labour laws
  • Speak well in French and English (written and oral)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and HRIS or ERP
  • Have work experience in West Africa
  • Be able to work under pressure in a multicultural environment
  • Have effective professional experience as part of a leadership team
  • Be able to communicate effectively with all hierarchical levels of the company and develop effective networks
  • Possess strong team training and coaching skills to ensure the development of an effective team
  • Possess strong conceptual skills and be able to develop practical and lateral solutions

Have demonstrated leadership skills

  • Minimum Bac+4/5 in HRM, Law or any equivalent diploma
  •  10 to 15 years of experience in an HR Manager position;
  • You have solid experience in the mining or related sector
  • French and English

Contractual information

2-year fixed-term contract based in West Africa.
